DF Welcomes 2022 Summer Associate Veta Bustos

​Dempsey Foster is proud to announce Veta “Vee” Bustos as our summer associate for 2022. Ms. Bustos has completed her second year of law school at the University of Idaho College of Law. Ms. Bustos will be splitting her summer between Dempsey Foster and the Eighth Judicial District of Clark County, Nevada. At Dempsey Foster, Ms. Bustos will focus on representing women and minority owned businesses in litigation, counseling, and transactions throughout the state of Idaho.

Ms. Bustos also is one of four national recipients of the American Bar Association’s Business Law Diversity Clerkship, and the first Idaho  College of Law student to earn the honor. Ms. Busto will serve the first half of her summer as a law clerk for the Honorable Nancy Allf in the Eighth Judicial District of Clark County, Nevada.

At the Idaho College of Law, Ms. Bustos is a member of the Idaho Critical Legal Studies Journal, the Women’s Law Caucus, and the Idaho Trial Lawyers Association, and is the student member of the Faculty Diversity and Inclusion Committee. She volunteers at the Virtual Street Law Clinic and serves as an Academic Skills Lab Teacher’s Assistant. Last summer, she served as a judicial extern for the Fourth Judicial District of Idaho, Ada County.

Prior to law school, Ms. Bustos served as a Compliance Investigator for the Idaho Industrial Commission, a Presentence Investigator for the Idaho Department of Corrections, and a paralegal at the Harry DeHaan Law Offices.

Ms. Bustos received her Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice Administration Management, summa cum laude, from Boise State University in 2012.  She received an Associates of Arts degree in Criminal Justice with distinction from the College of Southern Idaho in 2010, where she also served on the Diversity Council and the Ambassador Council for the Student Body Administration.

Ms. Bustos is certified by Thomson Reuters in Essential Legal Research and Foundations of Legal Research, and is Lexis+ Proficiency Certified as well.

Ms. Bustos is fluent in Russian and English and has served as a volunteer interpreter for St. Luke’s Hospital.
